Introduction

My Approach Many of us have had experiences, big and small, that have impacted us in powerful and unexpected ways and, for so many reasons, we haven’t had the time or space to heal from them. Often symptoms of anxiety, depression, and substance use develop from our attempts to adapt to life experiences, especially those that happen early in our lives. I believe that when we develop insight into our symptoms, we are then able to change them and find new ways of getting our needs met. This is where therapy can help. In therapy, I work to create a supportive space for you to explore and express your thoughts and feelings, even those you may not have realized were there. We will explore how you got to where you are today, identify patterns, build on strengths, and find ways to heal emotional wounds. People of all backgrounds should be able to get the help they need without fear of microaggressions or further oppression by the therapist. I strive to help people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, races, and body size feel respected with me: I am committed to integrating an understanding of how intersecting oppressions inform your experiences. My Training I hold a Masters Degree in Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the District of Columbia, a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia. For the past 9 years I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient clinics, treating patients with a variety of mental health concerns. While I have experience with a broad range of issues, I do have specializations in treating trauma and substance use. I completed basic training in EMDR in 2018 and continue to learn through group and individual consultation.
