What a strange world we live in these days! I’m trying to navigate the changes right alongside all of you. I am originally from Austin (I know, rare breed), I have a background in child welfare, from CPS to foster care, acute and long term residential with adults and adolescents, and long term care/end of life, so I have seen it all! I’ve focused my post graduate education and training on the areas of attachment, trauma and family systems. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, adults and their families, helping navigate what life looks like with the challenges of change. Communication is often difficult, for everyone. It’s hard to really think about what’s being said, and appropriate ways to respond/react when emotions are involved. Sometimes we get stuck, trying to make a point or defend our perspective and that becomes our pattern of communicating. Let me help assign meaning to reactions. Let’s dig deeper into the why. Let me help translate what is being said, and what’s not being said. People are not inherently manipulative. Manipulation is a way to get a need met that has not been met by other various attempts. The tough part is that we don’t always know what need we are trying to meet. So how do you meet this need if you cannot put into words what it is? That is where I come in. I can help you navigate through things, gain understanding and, in turn, increase effective communication and improve relationships. Many of our struggles stem from family system problems and those communication difficulties almost always pour over into adult relationships. If you’re looking for someone that isn’t afraid to peel back the layers of difficult topics and is willing to dive in with you to do the work, who uses humor along the way, to sometimes lighten things up, I look forward to this journey with you.
