Hello and welcome! My name is Jennifer and I am excited to meet you! I have over 10 years of experience working with children and youth who have struggled with a variety of life stressors and have had difficulties with anxiety, depression, self-harming, adjustment disorders, trauma disorders, oppositional behaviors, relational problems, bonding and attachment issues, or child abuse related problems. Kids don’t always have the skills to be able to cope with life difficulties or be able to adequately verbalize how they are feeling which means that these feelings and emotions often come out in negative behaviors. With therapeutic intervention, youth gain valuable coping skills, make positive behavioral changes, learn healthy communication, conflict resolution skills, and improve mental health. Skills are taught using an eclectic approach, meeting the client where they are at and understanding their unique circumstances and difficulties. I’m a big believer that therapeutic relationships are built on a solid foundation of trust and respect. My first goal in working with children and adolescents is to foster the therapeutic relationship and provide them with a safe nonjudgmental place where they feel comfortable allowing me into their ‘world.’ This is where healing and growth occurs.
