While each psychotherapy experience is unique, I believe that establishing a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship is an important starting point for any therapy experience. My hope is that you will be able to share thoughts or feelings that come up related to the therapy process or myself as your therapist. A typical therapy experience involves working together to identify underlying factors that contribute to your current problems or lead you to feel stuck. We will work to address these factors and choose alternatives so you feel more in control of your life and experiences. Also, we will incorporate ways of getting more immediate relief from your current symptoms/problems, such as coping skills for stress and anxiety management. The sociocultural context of your life and diverse aspects of your identity are also considered as they can be important to understanding you and your experiences as well as help guide us in creating goals and working toward change.
