Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind. Our attitudes and beliefs may come from our childhood, our experiences and maybe what we have learned from others. After working in many areas of mental health, I have gained experience in assisting people in figuring out where thoughts and feelings may be coming from and the best methods to improve them. Everyone finds that their overall mental health improves and they create a better version of themselves. I have been married for 15 years and have three children. I attended Ball State University for my undergraduate work and Howard University for my graduate degree. My work experience has been in community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals, schools, crisis/disruptive event management and private practice. We all go through difficult times during life. Anxiety, depression, grief/loss are just a few reasons why people look to therapy for support. No matter what your reasons are, I want you to know that it matters, YOU matter. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you? The right therapist makes all the difference. First and foremost, I want you to feel comfortable and connected. Starting with a new therapist, or beginning your therapy journey isn't easy for everyone. All of my clients have said, I have made that part easy. I think it is a testament to the nonjudgmental space I have created for you. I will meet you wherever you are in your life journey. What treatment methods and tools do you utilize? I do not have a cookie cutter approach to therapy. I use several different methods (Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused) in working with people. One thing I can tell you, humans all have struggles and many of them are similar to what you are having. It is because of this, I can give you methods that work, because many of the other people I have worked with have tried them. No matter what you come to me with, together we will find an approach that works for you. Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths. I asked my client's how they would describe me as a therapist and this is what they had to say. "Jennifer is empathetic, respectful and authentic." "My therapist is very knowledgeable, supportive and caring. The best therapist!" "I never thought I could tell someone my real thoughts and feelings. I have and I am so glad." "I wouldn't be here if Jennifer hadn't grabbed my hand and showed me the way out. She saved my life." "At first I thought I just had anxiety. After we started working together I figured out that I had some scary things going on. Jennifer helped me to never feel alone and I felt like she knew just what to do."
