Introduction

I have worked in the mental health field since 1999. Most of that experience has been working with children and adolescents. I graduated from Berry College in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. I was a mental health case manager for two years before staying home to start a family. In 2014 I graduated from the University of Montevallo with a master's degree in Counselor Education. I interned with Alabaster City Schools during my counselor training. I began the licensure process in 2022 with SafeHouse of Shelby County as their Residential Counselor and currently as a School-Based counselor working with students in Alabaster City Schools. I have recently completed the licensure process and am working on becoming a Registered Play Therapist. I have decades of experience advocating for students in various school systems and working with children who've experienced trauma. I use a lot of play therapy and brief counseling techniques in therapy sessions.
