Dr. Jessica Allen is a Clinical Psychologist dually licensed in NY and MA. Specializing in trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and family therapy, she enjoys working with clients across the lifespan. With nearly 20 years of experience providing therapy, supervision, and program leadership, she has developed several specialties in her work with individuals and families to include: Individual Therapy Specializing in helping people heal from difficult, sometimes traumatic, experiences and equipping them with tools to help build a life they are excited to live. Supporting people who have lived through a range of difficult circumstances, including abuse/neglect in family or other relationships, gaslighting and manipulation, oppressive work situations and burnout, parental addiction or mental illness, and more. Clients often wish to learn skills to take better care of themselves, create healthy boundaries with others, respect boundaries set by others, and balance extremes in emotions, thinking, and behavior. Family Therapy -Reunification/Repair: Helping families heal from separation or estrangement resulting from abuse/neglect, caregiver incarceration, parental alienation, mental illness, and more. Work typically involves meeting with each involved member of the family first separately, and eventually together, to therapeutically work through the circumstances leading to the family disruption, acknowledge wrong-doings when appropriate, and create a healthy and safe path forward for the relationships. -Navigating Divorce/Separation: Therapeutic guidance for those planning or in the process of divorce/separation focused on creating healthy boundaries and communication with your former partner, how to talk to your children along the way, and how to effectively co-parent. This work can set your family up for long-term success. -Families Impacted by Mental Illness: Whether it’s a parent or child, a family member’s experience with mental illness can have wide ranging effects on those who love them. Work with these families focuses on finding balance in the family whether that involves re-establishing healthy roles in the family, increasing empathy and understanding among family members, or enhancing safety and boundaries. Parent Coaching -Co-parenting with an unsupportive partner -Parenting difficult teens -Parenting children with behavioral challenges -Survivors of childhood trauma/poor parenting Dr. Allen prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and keeps each client at the center of their work, asking “What is it that YOU want? Out of each session? Out of therapy? Out of life?” Using empathy and humor, she fosters a warm and supportive therapeutic environment, free from judgment, where you can safely grow and achieve your goals. It would be an honor to support your journey to a more balanced life. Free 15-minute consultation is available.
