My practice is focused on helping you in immediate, effective ways to change for the better. My practice is guided by neuroscience and a wide variety of therapeutic approaches oriented toward cognitive clarity, mindfulness, and self-compassion. The key goal from the first is to empower you to achieve affect regulation and to convert challenges to opportunities. Independence and self-reliance are central concerns in my practice, so the focus is on helping you understand and establish mental health skills as resources that dwell within you and can be accessed through simple techniques and brought into the forefront of your life to enable you to meet demands and seek new horizons with confidence and fulfilment. Before becoming an LPC, my professional background included college teaching in math, software development, literature, and social sciences. I have graduate degrees in three areas and have published 12 books. In addition to teaching, I worked in software engineering and information technology for the federal government and private companies.
