Hi! My name is Jordan Roe (she/her/hers), and I’m a Counseling Intern at Intersection Therapy currently completing my Masters in Mental Health Counseling online with Northwestern University. I offer a nonjudgmental space with clients for them to explore their own mental health. Coming from a psychodynamic orientation, I empower clients to reflect on how their past experiences inform their current thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I provide talk therapy sessions informed by person-centered, trauma-informed, feminist and multicultural therapies, seeking to understand my clients’ unique needs and individual circumstances depending on how they personally exist within various social systems. Drawing from acceptance-based, solution-focused, and creative techniques and interventions, I seek to, as Irvin Yalom puts it, “create a new therapy for each patient,” by collaborating with clients on how they wish to work. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, providing affirming treatment for every client is my priority, and that empathic validation is especially crucial in working with clients who identify as existing under the queer umbrella. I hope to form a trusting, respectful therapeutic relationship with all of my clients in which they feel comfortable imagining their most intentional, self-compassionate, and empowered selves. I look forward to meeting you and learning your story from the person that knows it the best–you.
