I ardently believe in our capacity as human beings to experience healing. I see my role as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor to partner and walk with my clients while they tap into their resiliency to make positive changes in their lives. Counseling is a unique relationship that provides a safe space for the exploration of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, values, beliefs, relationships, challenges and solutions. I believe that you are the expert on you and that I can work with you to fulfill your counseling goal(s). I work with individuals (older teens and adults) and couples. I have a varied clinical background including: trauma, compassion fatigue, couples work & intimate relationships, stress reduction, grief, anxiety, depression and psychometry. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Promoting professional resiliency is a passion of mine. As a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), I facilitate workshops and groups focused on eliminating symptoms of compassion fatigue and bolstering resiliency. The counseling theories that inform my work are: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Theory, Mindfulness, Forward Facing Trauma Therapy as well as Choice Theory. I use Gottman Method when working with couples. I would be happy to explain my techniques more in depth with you and explore how we can use them to best meet your unique needs. I hold a doctorate (PhD) in Counselor Education and Supervision and a masters’ degree (MA) in Counselor Education: Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Montana (UM). I also teach at UM as an adjunct professor. When not engaging in work, I can often be found along a mountain trail with my beloved husband, son and dog. I have the distinct honor of supervising license-eligible clinicians at my practice. If you are receiving counseling from one of my supervisees, please know that I oversee all of their clinical work. They meet regularly with me to review counseling sessions and I examine all session notes. Each supervisee has their own distinct experiences and areas of expertise. All billing is done under my name and license as their licensed clinical supervisor. It is sort of like getting two counselors in one! If you have questions about how clinical supervision works, please do not hesitate to ask your counselor or me.
