My name is Julissa. I am a therapist at Aspire To Wellness Behavioral Health. I am an LMSW with a Master's in Social Work from Adelphi University and a BA in Psychology from SUNY Old Westbury. One of my favorite self-care activities is roller skating. It is something I used to do as a child. As a teenager growing up, I became deeply passionate about helping others, which led me to pursue a career as a therapist. I want to assist individuals in healing from their trauma and debilitating and painful mental illnesses. I want to foster an environment that removes the negative stigma associated with seeking therapy and support. I have experience working with young children, teens, adults, families, and support groups. I facilitate individuals' healing journeys and support them in achieving their personal goals. I also provide telehealth services. I have experience working with individuals struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder, ADHD (inattentive and hyperactive type), PTSD, Social Anxiety, Childhood and Adult trauma, Self-Harm, Communication skills, and Self-Esteem. I use therapeutic interventions such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I am excited that you are taking this leap and letting me join you on your healing journey. I like to use this analogy: Please think of your journey as a ladder covered by clouds. When you start working, healing, and improving, the clouds will disappear as you climb the ladder. Sometimes, we might have moments when we slip back down the ladder, but that doesn't mean our progress is gone. It means you have the tools, put in the work, and know how to climb back up much easier than before because the clouds are no longer there. I am excited to meet and work with you.
