Hi! I am currently an LPC-A and hold a Master's of Education in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wichita State University (KS) with a specialization in Sports Counseling. I am currently a Ph.D student at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi where I am getting my doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. When I am not doing school-related things, my hobbies include physical fitness, binge-watching T.V. shows, and spending valuable time with family. I consider myself an all-rounder. People tell me that "I just do a lot of stuff" which includes playing the saxophone (high school and college - I still play occasionally) and being a collegiate student-athlete. As a former dual sport college athlete, I understand the unique challenges that come with being an athlete at any age and any level. I consider my counseling style to be open-minded and optimistic while not being afraid to achieve client goals by being straightforward in my approach. I believe counseling is a cooperative process and I allow that to be a driving force in sessions. My role as a counselor is to create an authentic environment of trust and understanding and I work towards providing support and respectful guidance that is fair and consistent with the client's goals. I believe in a therapeutic process that promotes change for the betterment of the client, challenging and confronting irrational thoughts and beliefs, and encouraging lived experiences and cultural lenses to be an important part of counseling. With my prior experience in mental health agencies and college counseling, I have been able to meet clients where they are and work with them to be proud of who they are. Our lives can be filled with authentic joy and I believe counseling can help individuals accomplish that goal.
