In psychoanalysis the hidden aspects of the psyche are encouraged to arrive in a trusting and safe therapeutic space, where over time we patiently can examine what has appeared. There we can look at things through different lenses and identify helpful and unhelpful patterns, while welcoming and listening to the less expressed parts of the self. Over time and through processing and embodiment, comes the ongoing work of how to integrate all of this into one’s daily lived experience. We may use tools like active imagination, narrative reflection, dream analysis, fantasy, creative expression (art, music, writing, dance, ecological/spatial work) and attention to synchronicity and other energetically rich psychic episodes to help with our understanding. The end goal is for you to live closer to your authentic self, the most courageous journey a person can undertake in this life. In my clinical work I maintain the connections to body, intuition, heart, emotions, spirit and the universe. The thinking function is always present, but I do nurture special attention to giving these other areas the space they deserve, which can be hard to find in prevalent Western culture. Though more focused on applied practice than theory, my Jungian work over the past 7 years has been acknowledged with the 2024 Kristine Mann Research Award (CG Jung Society New York / Analytical Psychology Club of New York) for scholarship related to my forthcoming book The Visual Jung, The Artists Journey Through Jungian Training, a 2021 Gradiva Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis and a 2022 Scholarship from the CG Jung Foundation Zürich. I’ve trained at the CG Jung Institute in Küsnacht Zürich (the oldest), where I am a diploma candidate in Jungian analysis under their clinical supervision. I offer Jungian analysis both online and in-person in Portland, Oregon. I’m also an Oregon state licensed psilocybin facilitator, and offer facilitation sessions locally, but can support you in processing and integration regardless of location. My earlier professional background has been as a full-time professor of design and human-computer interaction at the University of Washington and a creative director in the technology industry, with a recent focus in type 2 diabetes research and management. As a practicing creative artist in my work I use intuition and shamanic practices that connect to nature to access inspiration and creative drive. I continue this work in non-ordinary state of consciousness within my training as an Oregon state licensed psilocybin facilitator. If you are preparing to undergo a psychedelic journey or would like to process and integrate a past experience into your daily life, I’d be honored to accompany you on the path. I find that the realms of Jungian work and psychedelics blend quite naturally. As far as inspirations and theoretical lineage, I trace my path in psychology, anthropology and the creative arts through the writings and creative work of Carl Jung, C. Michael Smith, Marie-Louis von Franz, Edward Edinger, Robert L. Moore, Robert A. Johnson, Mircea Eliade, Jeanne Achterberg, Stanislav Grof, Terence McKenna, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Paul Éluard, André Breton, Paul Klee and many others. Come as you are, perhaps we can meet and work together. Website: www.cascadejungianservices.org
