Introduction

Justine has been working collaboratively with children, teens, adults and families for over 10 years in various settings including: First Five Programs, Schools (2-7 years old), Residencial Programs male adolescents, Substance Abuse Programs and Domestic Violence Program. Justine enjoys using metaphor, creative interventions such as art, role play, as well as, psycho-education- (teaching why you do what you do). She uses a balance of praise, validation, compassion, humor and direct observations and feedback to help clients feel seen, supported and see noticeable improvements such as: reduction in negative thoughts/increase in self confidence, less worry, more effective communication with others, less aggression and depressive symptoms as well as a better understand of their diagnosis such as: Anxiety, Depression, Dyslexia, ADHD as well as being able to recognize trauma and attachment wounds and how to heal them. Clients have seen an improvement in their ability to communicate with others, regulate their emotions, and engage in safe and effective behaviors. Parents report feeling more connected to their children and partners as well as improvements at work. Young children and adolescents show a decrease in unsafe and undesirable behaviors at home and in school and exhibit healthier relationships. Clients strengthen their ability to articulate feelings, concerns, needs, and thoughts. Clients leave knowing how to identify difficult patterns in thought and behavior, how to cope with them when they arise, and how and when to seek support. Justine's approach is semi direct, empathetic, collaborative, informative and creative and tailored to fit each person/families goals, needs and interests. Justine is skilled in using evidenced-based models such as: Child Centered Play Therapy and Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT). Her work integrates: Art Therapy, Structural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, developmental and attachment theories, and CBT/DBT tools.
