Jake has experience in providing group, individual, couples, and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults facing a variety of concerns, focusing primarily on anxiety, depression, relationship stressors, trauma related to intimate partner violence, emotional regulation, and attention and impulse-control. Jake's approach is primarily influenced by Narrative Therapy, which “seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counseling and community work, which centers people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives” (Morgan, 2000). He enjoys working collaboratively with his clients by promoting their personal agency and drawing on their own knowledge and lived experiences to find more preferred ways of being. Jake is constantly striving to improve and maintain the highest standard of cultural competency and sensitivity in order to offer a sense of safety and efficacy for clients of diverse and oppressed populations.
