Hi, I’m Kaela Easley. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and an EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) trained therapist, supervised under Latoya Walker-Hernandez. I work from a trauma-informed, attachment-based framework with adults, teens, and children who have ongoing challenges with depression or anxiety, have experienced tough situations in their childhood, have strong feelings of grief over the loss of a loved one, have trouble communicating in relationships, or have experienced a recent traumatic event. My goal is to empathetically come alongside individuals to help them cope with and move beyond life’s struggles. Each person has their own story in which trauma, shame, and grief do not need to be the main character. Every individual's unique needs will inform the healing process. From feeling overwhelmed and depressed, getting burnt out, having relational distress, or coping with past trauma, my hope is to empower each individual to meet their God-given potential. “Shame dies when stories are told in safe places” - Ann Voskamp Please Note: While I do not bill insurance, I do provide a superbill which many insurance companies accept for reimbursement. My Journey to Becoming a Therapist Counseling is a second career, derived from personal life experiences that led me to want to help others. I worked in the pharmaceutical sales industry during my 20’s and then moved to Turkey for several years. While living in Turkey, I met refugees and other individuals suffering from various forms of trauma that I felt ill equipped to help. This, coupled with a struggle to find appropriate resources when our own family went through a traumatic experience, caused me to pursue a masters degree in mental health counseling with an emphasis in neurocounseling from Bradley University. Neurocounseling considers the science of the brain when crafting a counseling approach. The drastic benefits I personally received from EMDR therapy caused me to want to pursue this path in order to help others in the same way I was helped. My interests lie in counseling needs related to adoption, cross-cultural wounds and adjustment, and trauma related struggles.
