Hi! I'm Kara with Wise Roots Therapy. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in treating trauma, perinatal mental health, mood concerns, & attachment wounds. I received my Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013, and since then I have worked in a variety of community health and mental health settings. In my 10+ years of social work, I have learned that when people feel safe, seen, and truly known, they find powerful new ways to connect with themselves and connect with others. I am an EMDR certified and perinatal mental health certified therapist. I have pursued extensive training in trauma-informed, attachment-based modalities such as SAFE EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, and Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC). In addition, I have completed 3 years of training with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. My clients are often adults who have experienced trauma or are navigating concerns related to depression, anxiety, or interpersonal issues. I also recognize there is a special space needed for exploring pregnancy, infertility, loss, postpartum mood changes, and transitions into parenthood. I utilize a holistic and collaborative approach to help process painful experiences, explore new coping strategies, and increase resources to help you heal. -My Roots- I'm a Nashville native. In my spare time, I love spending time with my husband, two children, my dog, Aries, and cat, Elliot. I enjoy watching light hearted tv, am an OG Survivor fan, listen to too many true crime podcasts, love a good home project, and enjoy reading memoirs. I also enjoy working with other social workers, and I find offering LCSW supervision reinvigorates my passion for this field. I am currently available for both in person and telehealth sessions. If you'd like to connect to learn more, reach out via phone or email (below) to set up a time for a free 20 minute consultation. I look forward to learning more about you and your needs.
