Introduction

Hello and welcome. I’m Karen Robertson, a relationship coach, leadership consultant and a licensed psychotherapist . Some of the challenges I help people face include conflict, depression, anxiety, indecision, betrayals, and the increasing stress of managing relationships in the age of constant connectivity and social media. Besides my education, I have also weathered many of the challenges that you might be facing. My commitment is to help you find your way through some of life's darkest places. My approach to therapy is to help you tell me the story of what success looks like, help you uncover the barriers to achieving it, and to provide tools & techniques that we know work in improving our lives. Even more about me... I haven't always been a therapist. I spent 25 years working full time in a Fortune 100 company before changing direction to do consulting work and earn my graduate degree. In those years, I was a single mother, divorced, remarried, had two sons, and a daughter with an eating disorder who became addicted to opioids following surgery. After 15 years, 9 rehab/recovery centers, some incredibly wonderful years, and some incredibly heartbreaking years, we lost her. The family survived. My marriage survived. But not without a lot of stress and hard lessons learned. Actually, to call those years stressful is an understatement. They were transformative - and the reason I am a therapist today. I am proud of my education and credentials. But I am prouder of my resilience and the experiences that have been critical in shaping how I relate deeply and authentically to a wide range of personal and relationship challenges. My mission is to pass on that knowledge and resilience to others. EDUCATION -University of Michigan School of Social Work, Master of Social Work -Mount Holyoke College, Bachelor of Science, Psychology CERTIFICATIONS Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level I & II The Couples Institute Domestic & Civil Mediation, State of Michigan, Resolution Services Center Myers-Briggs Certified Administrator Future Search Facilitator Six Sigma Green Belt Finally, I am also a wife and mother of musicians and know intimately the struggle of artists. I am an artist, traveler, seeker, guide, peacemaker and aim to be a bright and helpful creative spirit for others.
