I have my License for Marriage child and family therapy. I specialize in doing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for teens and adults - distress tolerance, emotional regulation and improving interpersonal communication skills. I believe that everyone struggles with something and having someone to talk through the thought processes, allows for us to see issues in a different light. I believe that everyone has the power and ability to change and become whomever they wish to be, given the right tools. Therefore, I also believe real change comes from within the individual. I have two masters, one in general psychology and than I went back so I could get licensed and chose family therapy because lasting change comes when everyone is invited to participate rather than one individual within a system. I than chose DBT because it works -- the therapy teaches specific coping skills and labels them in ways and teaches us to slow down the process in a way we don't usually think about or acknowledge, while teaching us to find balance rather than living with in the extremes of today's world. Generally I like helping people, I find it rejuvenating and a challenge to keep me in search of new ideas.
