I know that looking for a therapist can be a daunting and overwhelming task. It feels impossible to know who will be a good fit, you will feel safe and connected to and most importantly, can they help you? Allow me to share a bit about me that I find helpful when I am looking for a therapist for myself or those I love. - I have some life behind me. Life experience matters. I have been through more than my share of life's ups and downs. - I can hold your stuff. You can share big, heavy and hard life things with me and it won't overwhelm me or shake me. I got you. - No judgement. I am incredibly open-minded and accepting. Judgment and shame are something we will work to heal, not cause more. - I am an Adoption Specialist. In addition to my masters in Marriage & Family Therapy, I also hold a masters in Adoption Studies. I have a deep understanding of the many nuances, excitements, fears, hurts and impacts of adoption on adoptees, parents, birth family, sibling and romantic partners. - Also, I am an adoptee myself and have and continue to work through its impact on my life. - I am open to your needs. If you feel like there is something you need in therapy, art, music, meet at the beach, cover yourself in 20 blankets, dance like a disco queen, hug a tree, whatever it is; tell me. There is a reason that feels important to you. We will work together to figure out how to make it happen. Let's make therapy work for you, so that you can find the understanding, healing and change you are looking for and then get you back out in the world. You don't need to be in therapy for the rest of your life.
