Introduction

PHILOSOPHY Hello, and welcome to my page! I work with people who have a wide variety of conditions stemming from relational and environmental stress. I believe that we are naturally programmed to heal, but often we rely on past coping skills that are no longer functional and this blocks the path to healing. I think every symptom once served a purpose and that change can occur by looking at how and why these symptoms developed, while at the same time trying new behaviors. I have a direct, non-judgmental and caring style, intermingled with humor. I strive to create a compassionate atmosphere where you can allow yourself to be vulnerable and have that met with respect and validation. I work hard at viewing each person through the lens of their own experience, rather than using my own framework to decide what is healthy or not. In order to do this, I thoroughly interview you about your past. I examine how it shaped you, your emotions, your thoughts and the way you interact in the world. We’ll also explore how this plays out for you in the current day. I welcome clients of different ethnicities, cultures, religions, sexual orientations, nationalities, and abilities and am always eager to learn about areas I’m not as familiar with. Clients whom I’ve worked well with are often experiencing issues such as relational problems, work stress/burnout, life transitions, low self-esteem, emotional abuse/neglect, childhood trauma/injuries, work/secondary trauma, anxiety, depression, and self-sabotaging behaviors. My approach to therapy primarily incorporates interpersonal and family system techniques, but I can also utilize EMDR, CBT, Gestalt, Attachment, and Trauma-based therapies. I’m able to work with clients who enjoy homework and structure as part of the therapy process, as well as clients who enjoy a more fluid approach. For those who want structure, I usually provide writing or behavioral assignments that specifically target the issues that you are working on. My focus is to help you achieve the changes that you want in your life so that you can obtain the goals that are meaningful for you. EDUCATION Ph.D., Clinical Psychology, 1998, Illinois Institute of Technology B.S., Psychology, 1992, University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress PSYPACT Member LICENSURE Licensed Clinical Psychologist, State of Illinois, License Number: 071.006234 New York License Number: 024525 EXPERIENCE I’ve been a clinical psychologist for over 20 years. Initially, I worked in a military setting, seeing all branches of the military, both active duty and veteran, and their spouses and adult children. The site was a hospital setting, so I am deeply familiar working with those in the healthcare field and individuals who work in high-tempo environments. Then, I moved to a group private practice, specializing in Women’s Issues. I am also an actor and aficionado of theatre and the arts, and have experience working with artists and helping them bring their work to fruition. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! NO SURPRISES ACT You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or contact Dr. Rennhofer at Dr.Rennhofer@growtoday.one Note from Dr. Rennhofer to address the above: I am an out-of-network provider. My session fees are $250 per session. If you choose to have me practice courtesy billing or if you file a Superbill, your insurance may cover part of the fee, but you would pay the full fee upfront and be responsible for what your insurance does not cover. Please check with your insurance providers for the specifics of your coverage. The CPT codes are 90791 for the first and 90837 for the follow-ups. My NPI number is 1710960406 in case you need this information when you check with your insurance. If you are having an emergency and I am not available, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room. The National Crisis Line Number is 1-800-273-8255.
