I specialize in trauma therapy (particularly spiritual trauma, relational trauma, and/or family-of-origin trauma) for adults. The more I work with survivors of trauma, the more stunned I am by the wisdom and goodness of our bodies to move us toward safety and healing. The ways your body worked to protect yourself are valuable and deserve compassion -- and those very defensive strategies often end up cutting us off from ourselves and others. It is so important to me to honor the story you and your body are telling, and to help us learn to listen in a way that will guide you to healing and integration. I am available to residents of FL and MO for deep trauma psychotherapy work. I also provide in-person trauma therapy intensives, which are great opporunities to get a lot of trauma work done in a short time. I can do this in-person in Orlando, or via telehealth to anyone who lives in or can get to Missouri or Florida. For residents of other states, I offer spiritual formation and/or coaching, which involves more goal-oriented collaborative work, but still utilizes my expertise in trauma and the nervous system. Please ask me for more information about the differences between psychotherapy and coaching/spiritual formation! It takes courage to begin the steps to getting help. My hope is to to create a safe, non-judgemental space for my clients. I believe that every person is created with dignity and worth, but trauma and suffering can get us stuck. My style of counseling includes establishing a safe, collaborative relationship that is warm, respectful, and mutually open to feedback. I use evidence-based treatments to focus on a holistic approach. I earned my BA in English from Covenant College and my MA in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. In addition, I have received training in trauma-informed practices, EMDR, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Ego-State work, and Polyvagal Theory. I recently relocated to Florida from Missouri, and am currently licensed in both states. Previously, I lived in Indonesia, Taiwan, Toronto, Washington DC, & Austin, TX. I have nearly 10 years of counseling experience. My interests include travel, books, spending time with my husband & two kids (ages 8 and 5), seeking out beauty, and advocating with spiritual abuse survivors/victims.
