Introduction

Katie Hevesi is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and National Certified Counselor, specializing in the treatment of individuals with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, depression and anxiety, and women’s issues. Katie primarily works with ages 10+, young adults, and groups. She received her psychology undergraduate degree from the University of North Georgia and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. She is also a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) through IAEDP (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals). Since obtaining her master’s degree, Katie has gained experience in family, group, and individual therapy. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including inpatient psychiatric, court-mandated outpatient, and higher levels of care (inpatient, residential, & PHP) for eating disorders. Her experience includes working with individuals affected by trauma, mood and personality disorders, and grief. Katie enjoys working alongside clients to aide and encourage them to understand their emotions, build strong connections with themselves and others, and enjoy a healthy relationship with their bodies. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches in her work, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and family-based treatment (FBT).
