Kathleen (Katie) Larson is excited to join the IWA team as a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Psychiatry. She went to Indiana University in Bloomington, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with highest distinction, and joined the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society. She then obtained a Master of Medical Science degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois while completing their rigorous and highly competitive training program to become a PA. Unlike an NP, she must pass a recertification board exam every 10 years in all areas of medicine, ensuring she maintains a solid foundation of medical knowledge throughout her career. Since 2010, she has practiced medicine in Illinois, California, and Indiana and has worked in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, and inpatient settings. She has held positions focusing on sleep medicine, eating disorders, addiction medicine, and general psychiatry. Katie has an undeniable passion for working with adolescents and young adults (and their families) but truly enjoys helping any patient achieve mental wellness. She seeks to educate, support, and collaborate with patients and their other providers to form a tailored treatment regimen that works for each individual. Ultimately, her goal is to end the unfortunate stigma and lack of resources that plague those with mental illness. Katie loves spending time with her young daughter, Chloe, and two dogs named Chi and Plum. She enjoys doing art and being in nature, but cannot resist a good documentary series!
