Introduction

Dr. Chrestman is nationally recognized expert in prolonged exposure (PE) therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She trained under the mentorship of Dr. Edna Foa, at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and is a certified PE therapist and consultant. She is co-author, of Prolonged Exposure Therapy for Adolescents with PTSD, Therapist Manual and Workbook, and has written about community and professional responses to trauma, particularly domestic violence and sexual assault. She specializes in evidence-based therapy for PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) social anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety. She also has a strong interest and clinical background in third-wave CBT approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and completed postdoctoral training at the Women’s Health Sciences Division of the National Center for PTSD in Boston.
