Kelly Geers, LCSW Licensure and Qualifications I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My training involved a significant focus in working with individuals and families from a systemic perspective. This means that my professional work with clients include considering the impact that a concern has on an individual and the people with whom they have relationships. I currently provide therapy for concerns including, but not limited to, the following: anxiety; depression; sexuality; divorce and relationship adjustment; grief and loss; conflictual relationships; family concerns; adolescent adjustment; questions of meaning including faith and spirituality. In my professional practice, I have worked with women and children experiencing violence, abuse, and control in their relationships. I have also worked with sexual assault survivors. In addition, I have worked in several healthcare settings, counseling families as they manage chronic health issues, make end-of-life decisions, and cope with grief and loss. I’ve also provided group education and therapy to homeless adolescents and women experiencing crisis in shelters and temporary residential facilities. Counseling Approach Each person is unique and, so, growth and change will look different for each person. However, I believe that the therapy process is collaborative. As a therapist, I consider my primary roles as, first, to create a safe and open environment where you can feel as though your concerns are being heard and understood, and to help facilitate a deeper understanding, resolution, or acceptance of the concerns that you bring. We are each composites of biopsychosocial characteristics and experiences and we will consider your concerns from each of these perspectives.
