Introduction

Kelly Steed is a Licensed Masters Social Work, Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Equine Therapist and Certified Thanatologist, and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has worked with a wide variety of clients over the course of her 23-year career. She enjoys working with adults exploring post-traumatic growth. She employs mindfulness, acceptance, and commitment therapy, dialectical and behavioral therapy, tasks of grieving, and motivational interviewing to assist with moving the from the despair associated with trauma and loss toward integrating these experiences into a positive-growth-experiences that result in a more joyful life. With this in mind, she uses many expressive therapies to address, loss, grief and trauma. She is a life-long learner who encourages growth and mentorship with others. She enjoys working with systems from family to corporate ones. She enjoys training in several areas including animal assisted therapy, death and dying and caregiver support. The human experience can be challenging at times, but can also be beautiful. Learning that both are normal parts of the journey can be empowering and allow one to reach our dreams and goals by overcoming the blocks and pain that keep us from reaching those dreams. We can learn to grow through pain, enjoy moments of pure joy and build community. Kelly is an active member of her community volunteering with her neighborhood association, Faulkner County Master Gardeners and the Conway Tree Board and several animal rescues groups. She is married, has grown children and has a menagerie of animals at home. Building a life, you love is a noble goal, one that is possible for anyone willing to commit the energy to reaching it. Learning to transform difficulties and limitations helps to realize that goal.
