Hi there! I'm Kim. And I was born for counseling! Since I was a little girl, I’ve always found myself vying for the underdog and trying to help people identify and solve their problems. Actually, I’ve been through a few trials myself. Who hasn’t? Though I began my young career as a business woman, I knew something was missing. I began volunteering at a local non-profit crisis pregnancy center, and it was then that I realized I could get paid for something that came so natural to me – helping others thrive in the face of life’s many challenges. When I added the formal social work education, I felt that a business in psychotherapy was the perfect combination to positively influence as many lives as possible. Since 2003, I have counseled people of all ages. I’m most confident in treating anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, eating struggles, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, personal growth, self esteem, parenting challenges, among other life issues. I know my strengths, and I am not afraid to admit when an issue or client is out of my scope of practice. And, having directed a non-profit for 8 years, I’ve become pretty resourceful in connecting people with the best practitioners or organizations suited to their specific situation. I may be considered an “expert” in human behavior, but YOU are the expert in YOUR life! I like to observe and listen first, learning about you. Then, together, we work as a team to identify your needs and go about getting them met. In fact, one of my favorite jobs in this field is teaching college students about modern family life. I learn a lot from my young adult students. They keep me up-to-date on the latest challenges in modern family life – the stuff even the textbooks don’t tell you. My private counseling practice serves kids, adolescents, and adults. I proudly work in office with an acclaimed psychiatrist, Dr. Maria Cruse, who can provide medication management to my clients if needed. I'm proud of you for searching for a solution to your problems, and if you feel like I could be the person to listen, teach, and support you along your path to peace, let's get this started! Call my office at 985-493-9304, and my girls will set you up for your first day of feeling better.
