My name is Laura Ferriola. I have resided in the Hampton Roads area most of my life. When I began my career, it was in education, however after much observation I pursued a degree in Psychology. I received my bachelor’s from Christopher Newport University in Psychology. I worked in the mental health field in a variety of settings for 9 years. I returned back to school and earned my master’s in professional counseling from Liberty University. While working on my Masters degree, I began the process of my training for play therapy. In mental health, I took on roles of supervisor, auditor, assessor and counselor. After my residency and board exam, I became a licensed professional counselor in 2019. Afterwards, I began training for becoming a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) and am fully credentialed to work with first responders. My passion is being able to help those individuals who are in need of assistance and willing to work on improvements for themselves. While working with all ages, I would have to say my favorite moments are when the lightbulb goes off, it makes my job more enjoyable. I work mostly with individuals who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, Mood Disorder, Depression, Grief/Trauma, low self-esteem, anger management, emotions, and stress. During my nonworking hours, I spend time with family to include parents, husband, and my three children. I enjoy crafts (puzzles, cross-stitching, and baking) as well as watching cartoons and reading. As a family, we play games, take small trips, and even find time to improve our health.
