Introduction

Maybe it has become hard for you to do things that used to come easily. You've noticed that your perceptions toward others or the world around you have changed in ways that feel limiting. There are moments when it feels like you're reliving past pain, maybe in relationship patterns, maybe in flashbacks, or maybe in feelings in your body that you have no words for. Mostly, you feel stuck. Perhaps your trauma has a name and a date. Perhaps it is made up of many repeated instances. No matter how it started, your experience is valid and your pain does not have to dominate your life. As a SAFE trained EMDR therapist, I will work with you to become unstuck from your past trauma and attachment injuries. For many people, EMDR provides a way to move through past trauma and to start living a life consistent with the person they want to be. EMDR is an evidence-based practice and I am happy to answer any questions you may have about it. Trauma impacts the nervous system, maybe you feel easily shut down or perhaps you become overwhelmed quickly. Your body is communicating with you constantly. With my training in polyvagal-informed practices we can work together to start to hear what your nervous system is telling you and to establish gentle practices to create a sense of balance in your body. Counseling is not one size fits all. I know that a variety of factors make you who you are, and I work to welcome them into your treatment. This includes incorporating your spirituality/religion, gender, race, and other cultural aspects into the work we do together. Our relationship is important, so I will regularly check in with you to make sure we are on the same page. In our work together I will be honest, open, and direct. I have experience and enjoy working with folks in the LGBTQIA+ community. Education is one of my core values, and some areas of I have training in include ACT, EFT, attachment theory, mindfulness, and polyvagal theory. In 2015 I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthropology, and in 2021 I graduated from Western Seminary with a Master of Arts in Counseling. Counseling can seem intimidating, I am here to come alongside to offer care and support as you share who you are. You don't have to keep feeling burdened by your problems, change is a possibility.
