As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Dos Santos works primarily with adolescents and young adults. With her naturally warm, calm, easygoing demeanor and through her dedication to listening carefully and empathetically, she has cultivated an exceptional ability to connect with young people who are struggling with difficult, often complex issues. She takes the time needed to build understanding and trust, then engages each client in a program of treatment that builds on the client’s personal strengths and addresses pressing concerns. Dr. Dos Santos encourages, supports, and guides her clients as they acquire insight into their thoughts and behaviors. She makes sure that clients acquire practical skills that they can draw upon daily to experience positive change and meaningful transformation in their lives. She has a particular expertise in working with young adults transitioning to and managing the college stress as she provides strategies and techniques that lead to increased autonomy and independence as well as improved interpersonal relationships, with family and peers. She has a particular interest in clients with complex medical and mental health conditions and is pursuing advanced training in addressing the mental health symptoms associated with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Prior to founding Evolvinn Therapy and Consulting, Dr. Dos Santos worked for more than a decade as a clinical psychologist at the Ross Center in Washington, DC, and Tysons Corner, VA. She provided therapy services and psychological evaluations for a full caseload of children, adolescents, and young adults as well as served on the center’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) team. She has also worked with adolescents and young adults in residential treatment, hospital, school, juvenile justice, and community mental health settings. Providing clinical leadership, court-ordered psychological evaluations, crisis intervention services, and individual, group, and family therapy. In these roles, she has provided clinical leadership, court-ordered psychological evaluations, and crisis intervention services in addition to individual, group, and family therapy. Dr. Dos Santos completed her Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Maryland, College Park and earned her master’s and doctorate degrees at the University of Hartford, where she pursued the child and adolescent clinical track. She has also completed post-graduate training in DBT, Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Having honed her skills as educator, communicator, and connector throughout her career, Dr. Dos Santos welcomed the opportunity to serve as the Ross Center’s Director of Community Outreach. In this role, she developed, implemented, and evaluated a wide range of initiatives to showcase the center’s capabilities and programs, forge connections with other community resources, expand the center’s client base, and increase awareness of mental health issues and advances.
