I have been honored to work with children and families for more than 15 years. Children learn, make sense of their world, and express their thoughts and feelings through play. With play therapy, I help children regulate their emotions, learn new coping skills, and improve their interpersonal relationships. In Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), I teach play therapy techniques to parents to strengthen their bond with their child, build their child’s self-esteem, and increase their child’s social skills and ability to follow directions. In any type of children’s therapy, I involve caregivers as active collaborators in their child’s treatment because they are the most influential people in their child’s life. I have worked with individuals and families from a wide variety of backgrounds and ethnic identities. I am fluent in Spanish. I promote a safe and nonjudgmental environment for people of all genders and sexual orientations. I have worked with many children involved in the child welfare system, foster care, and adoption, and am familiar with the unique challenges children and families in these situations face. I aim to promote and support a healthy attachment between children and their caregivers. In my work with adults, I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness approaches to help you gain insights, learn new skills, and discover new ways of thinking. I am passionate about understanding your perspective to embark on a journey of growth together so you can you choose and reach for the life that you want. I hope we build a therapeutic relationship that is a good fit for you, however, I understand that an essential part of effective therapy is finding a good match for yourself or your family. I am happy to provide other recommendations should we find that you may be better served by a different clinician.
