Hello, my name is Lee Ann Heathcoat, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with Oakheart and have been with the practice for almost a year in a half. I love creating an environment for my clients to feel safe to explore and challenge themselves. I enjoy bringing humor and a laid-back style to my sessions to help my clients feel comfortable through their journey. I do this by utilizing a variety of evidence-based therapeutic treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Strength-Based Therapy. I specialize in working with clients who are 15 years and older with Substance Use Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, LGBTQ+ Support, Domestic Violence, Panic Disorder, and Life Transitions. Most recently, I've been working on expanding my specialties to include providing services for clients who have Dual Diagnosis (Substance Use and Mood Disorders), specifically Bipolar Disorder. My journey as a therapist in private practice could be seen as a unique one but has provided me with a plethora of experiences that I would not have otherwise gotten. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University, and my Masters's Degree in Counseling from Northern Illinois University. I’ve been working in the field of psychology and criminal justice for over 20 years. During my years of experience, I’ve worked within the court and jail system, employee assistance program, and community mental health.
