I started Open Gates because I believe counseling can empower people to find their way through barriers that prevent them from accomplishing goals and living fulfilled lives. Oftentimes, people are closed off from living their best lives because they are bound by emotional pain, hurt, stress, emptiness, grief, or trauma. We are thrilled when we can help clients discover how their strengths can be some of the tools they can use to move beyond their past and change their futures. I am excited about Open Gates and I hope that as you read on, you will find that we will be an appropriate option for you. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC). I received my Master of Education, Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh, and began my career working in community-based and faith-based organizations, counseling adolescents, families, and adults. For nearly 20 years, I have served as a resource for many, including incarcerated women, high school and college students, faith-based organizations and churches. My background and extensive experiences have allowed me to develop vital skills important to a healthy and productive therapeutic relationship. I hope this provides you with insight as to how my skills may benefit you or someone you know. Please contact me if you believe Open Gates can meet your counseling needs. Lisa Gooden, NCC, LPC Owner/Counselor of Open Gates Counseling
