I went from being a financial banker to a heating plant technician working part-time as a substance abuse coverage counselor when the market crash. Working in an all-women’s alternative to incarceration treatment facility, is when it became clear that working with individuals whose lives were consumed in addiction and mental health was my calling and became a passion. After several years in the role as a substance abuse coverage counselor, it became clear that there was other work to be done. I returned to school, first stop Mercy College where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services to later go on to obtain Certification in Addiction Counseling. Secondly, I attended PACE University where I received a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Hunter College, where I obtained a Master’s of Social Work. I hold an independent license as a LPC, (Licensed Professional Counselor) and LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of GA & NY and CASAC certification in addiction. My counseling career extends over two decades within various settings (home-based, inpatient/ outpatient centers, hospitals, group homes, criminal justice (jails and prisons) as well as faith-based and military. I am now in private practice where I see individuals in the office at WeCare Counseling Services in Atlanta, Ga, where I provide individual counseling for adults, children, adolescent, individually and with families.
