Introduction

You’ve tried everything you’ve heard and been told will make it better and Nothing has. You’re left feeling like, what is wrong with me? I’m doing all the stuff! Pause, and consider this ... Sometimes the "trying" gets in the way. Often the well intentioned tactics we use have the opposite effect. If you feel worse about yourself and the “situation” after doing all the “right” stuff is that helpful? I hope to help you feel less reactive, more relaxed, clear within yourself and within your relationships by inviting in what you’re avoiding and wanting to go away! Call me the Counterintuitive Therapist! My personal world view and understanding of human states of being align with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) models. If you are interested in meeting me just to get a sense of who I am and whether you feel we might work well together, please contact me for a free 15 min. consultation … and Let's see! • e-mail: lisa120ward@gmail.com • Phone: 617-480-3164 (you can text) Neither are secure so please keep personal information to a minimum.  I have a Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) license in M.A. and am only able to accept M.A. residents.  I am not accepting medical insurance at this time.  Standard fee is $150/45 min.  I conduct sessions via telehealth and in-person. I am open to seeing clients in my home in Arlington, M.A. Areas of expertise: • Couples, communication • Anxiety • Depression • Grief • Panic • Shame What I value: Authenticity Listening to others Seeing myself in every person Accepting ourselves as we are Tenets: Who you see, you be. Identity is limiting. Hurt people, hurt people. How we react, behave, experience is not good/bad, right/wrong, simply informative about our state of being. How we relate to others is how we relate to parts of ourselves. Often, the well intended tactics we use to help often have the opposite effect. There are always exceptions. I tend to focus on self-acceptance, as you are. Whatever you are feeling, experiencing, perceiving … and however you are behaving, interacting … is a reflection of what’s going on inside, your state of being. I will spend time working with clients to acknowledge, witness, and engage with all of their internal “parts” to help shed light on what aspects of themselves are needing attention and to heal.
