The most important factor in counseling is the therapeutic alliance, or the trust you build with your counselor. I tell each of my clients that it is my goal to earn their trust. My approach with clients is to be honest and empathetic in a way that focuses on the needs of the client. I utilize principles from Cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and take a trauma informed approach. As Christian, I believe every individual is born with dignity and is deserving of compassion regardless of background. I also recognize the importance of utilizing evidence based practices (such as mindfulness/breathing exercises, CBT and DBT) and work to ensure that I stay up to date on the most recent proven interventions and neuroscience to meet the specific needs of my clients. For those interested, I do offer Christian counseling which centers around Christ's teachings and the Gospel of His grace. I work with children adolescents, adults, and couples. My approach with children is primarily parallel play, and with couples I utilize principles from the Gottman Institute.
