MacLean DuBay

SWLC Evergreen Equine Therapy
Specialties: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Attachment Issues

Introduction

Equine Assisted Therapy is founded on the belief that healing can be experienced through healthy relationships with ourselves and others. Equine Therapy sessions offer clients a hands-on opportunity to explore this healing through a personal connection with a horse. By fostering curiosity about this authentic relationship, clients can identify, practice, and develop their own relationship patterns in a safe and supportive environment. Time spent with horses also encourages a connection to our own bodies, supporting regulation skills and, consequently, our relationships with ourselves. This experiential approach embodies traditional therapeutic interventions while providing unique care for clients of all populations. Meet the Therapist MacLean practices out of the belief that humans were created to be relational, thus relationships serve potential for challenge and growth. She believes in empowering clients to explore the ways trauma affects our relationships and personal narrative of our present lives. MacLean finds great value in creating a space for clients to strive towards deeper relational connectedness. As an experiential learner and teacher, Maclean fell in love with providing equine therapy and has been doing so for almost two years now. She incorporates art-based activities, mindfulness and somatic experiencing exercises to supplement equine assisted psychotherapy sessions. MacLean graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Human Development and Family Sciences. She received her Masters in Social Work at Texas State University. MacLean grew up in small town Ohio and after attending school in Texas decided to return north. She loves to spend her time outdoors biking, swimming and running with her dog.
