Maria is a pre-licensed clinician, who earned a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice with a Psychology concentration from Goldey-Beacom College in 2020. In 2022, she graduated with her Master’s in Social Work from Delaware State University. Before graduating with her MSW, Maria spent two semesters interning with Postnatal Support Advocates' (PSA) 4th Trimester Emotional Wellness Program. Maria provided counseling services to mothers who had just given birth and supported them through their emotional and physical adjustment to a new baby. Through this experience, Maria became passionate about serving women and mothers, especially those who are in the postpartum period. In addition to her role as a clinician, Maria also serves as the Director of Outreach and Coordination of Care for PSA. Maria has experience with clients in a variety of mental health settings including in-home, in-office, high schools, out-patient and in-patient treatment programs. Treating clients in each of these settings has allowed for continued diversifying and enhancement of Maria's therapeutic skills and approach. Maria is a warm presence who listens intently and helps her clients make connections in their life that help them better understand themselves. She believes in a strengths-based, collaborative approach to treatment with her clients. As a social worker, Maria also takes a critical look at how oppressive systems and environments can adversely impact a person's mental wellbeing. Through empathy, support, validation, coping strategies and stress management techniques, Maria is able to help guide her clients down the path to healing. She is excited to work with you and be a passenger on your emotional wellness journey!
