Introduction

Hey, I’m Marie (she/her), a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Free to Frolic Counseling and Wellness. I help women who are tired of holding it all together finally create space for themselves. Many of my clients show up feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in people-pleasing, and unsure how to express their needs without guilt. They've often spent years prioritizing others, navigating relationships that drain them, and wondering, “When is it my turn to feel supported?” This practice was born from my belief that healing happens in safe, authentic connection—especially for those of us who’ve learned to perform strength to survive. As a Black woman and therapist, I’m deeply committed to serving BIPOC and neurodivergent folks, high-achievers, LGBTQIA+ folks, and anyone who's been told they're too much for wanting more. My style is relational, affirming, and flexible. I pull from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Rogerian principles to meet you where you are and walk with you toward where you want to be. That might look like learning how to ride the wave of anxiety instead of fighting it, practicing boundary-setting scripts, or sitting with your inner critic and gently telling her to have several seats. Therapy with me is both reflective and action-oriented—we’ll laugh, dig deep, and build tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life. If you’re ready to feel less anxious in your relationships, more grounded in your truth, and more at peace in your own body, I’d be honored to support you.
