Marina Connor is a graduate of Gonzaga University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. A native of Helena, Montana, she earned undergraduate degrees in anthropology and Spanish and a minor in English literature from the University of Montana. Before becoming a counselor, she worked in human rights, election politics, Child and Family Services, and alongside sexologist Dr. Lindsey Doe of Sexplanations on YouTube. As a sex therapist under the supervision of Zita Nickeson, PhD, LMHC, LCPC, CST, Marina is affirming and knowledgeable about sex, kink, polyamory, POC, LGBTQ, disability, and body positivity issues. Marina works with individuals, couples, and polyamorous relationships of all ages on issues including relationship strife, sexual or romantic incompatibility, sexual dysfunction, shame, abuse and trauma, kink/BDSM, gender therapy, low or high sexual desire, anorgasmia, pain with sex, and sex work. Related, she is a Kink-Knowledgeable Professional through the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, a member of the American Counseling Association's LGBTQ advocacy organization, and is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Sex Educator through the American College of Sexologists. Additionally, she is particularly knowledgeable about serving the needs of survivors of trauma, survivors of suicide loss, and end-of-life considerations. Whatever your unique needs, Marina is committed to creating a judgement and shame-free environment that allows you to be and become your best, healthiest self. Marina utilizes evidence-based models tailored to you to help you reach your life goals. As a social justice counselor, Marina provides a sliding fee scale to aid as many people access affordable counseling as possible. She offers counseling to adults and youth clients for individuals, partnerships, and families. She is not able to take insurance at this time, but is working to become paneled with many local insurance companies. Outside of her professional and academic work, Marina enjoys cooking, dancing, and plus-size body acceptance and fashion. Additionally, she is a human rights activist who strives to expand the rights of women, people of color, immigrants, people living with disabilities, the poor, and LGBTQ people. She seeks to develop the US health care system into a universal single-payer model as a basic human right.
