Mason is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. He has experience in both school and clinical settings, including behavioral/alternative schools, public schools, and private practice. Mason has experience working with both children and adults, while spending the last six years helping clients with various needs and goals, ranging from building self-esteem to marriage therapy, and trauma. Mason has a diverse experience with many populations. He has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and marriage/family counseling. All these individuals have experienced a variety of disorders. Mason has a lot of experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, from childhood trauma to the trauma of being in a cult. However, Mason is open and happy to work with all populations. Mason is a humanistic counselor, first and foremost. However, he integrates a lot of Adlerian, Gestalt, Sand tray therapy, CBT, and more into sessions as well. Mason believes there is no “one-size-fits-all approach” and adapts his approach based on the client’s needs. He also believes in integrating humor into the session. Humor in counseling may be surprising for new clients to hear. However, when a strong therapeutic relationship is built, our natural personalities come forward. Mason graduated with a Masters in School Counseling from Eastern Illinois University in 2019. Later, he completed his Doctorate (PhD) in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Chicago School in February of 2024. Both programs are accredited. His Dissertation was focused on Learned Helplessness in Children who had experienced trauma. Outside of counseling, Mason enjoys playing video games and spending time with his wife and two sons. He also enjoys being outdoors and attending church with his family. Finding the right therapist is part of the counseling process.
