Hi, my name is Matthew Block and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I typically work with teens, adults, couples and families. I enjoy helping people work through identity development, ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting support, and spiritual concerns. I believe people are influenced by their biological temperament, life experiences, past and present relationships with significant people, and their core values. My approach to therapy incorporates cognitive methods (examining one’s thoughts and beliefs). I view counseling as a collaborative effort in helping clients to recognize strengths, identify needs, understand conflicts, discover new options, set personal growth goals, and make informed choices. I earned my B.A. at Multnomah University and received my Masters in Counseling from Western Seminary. Prior to my current counseling practice, I worked for group practices including, Sundstrom Clinical Services, River Ridge Counseling and Northwest ADHD treatment center. My clinical training experience includes working at a residential treatment program for teens, and internships at Northwest Family Services and A New Day Counseling Center.
