My name is Mel Shannon and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I attended Xavier university for my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am licensed in both Kentucky and Ohio. I believe in being genuine and open with my clients and moving at whatever pace they need to feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I believe that everyone has great potential to make improvements in their lives and with the right relationship and help, it can be achieved! My specialties include trauma, attachment, depression, relationship issues, and anxiety. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families to improve quality of life and to teach skills to help people manage difficult situations and to heal. I use strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, Choice theory, Person-Centered Therapy, Strength based Therapy, and have training in Trauma Focused CBT.
