Introduction

My counseling style is warm, interactive, and based on radical acceptance. I have been a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) for 25 years and in that time I have learned to tailor my work to each client, using a combination of evidence-based tools and techniques that fit each client best. My therapeutic stance is client-centered - where you are the expert on your own life. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) my approach is also trauma-informed. Our work will be guided by the principles of safety, choice, collaboration, trust and empowerment, in order to recognize trauma and create an environment that promotes healing and recovery. After graduating with a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University in 1997, I started my career working as a therapist in a variety of community mental health and substance abuse treatment settings. Mid-career, I transitioned to working as a private clinical consultant, while also teaching psychology and communication courses as an adjunct professor. I have returned to my first passion, direct clinical practice, with a broader perspective, and I'm here to hold space for you in an environment of unconditional positive regard. Together we will work at your direction, at a pace you feel comfortable with. I am currently accepting adult clients for individual therapy via telehealth in Massachusetts. Although I treat a variety of populations, I specialize in working with emerging adults (ages 18-28). I aim to support young adults during this phase of significant change and transition in order to address common obstacles, such as: stress, academic rigor, entering the work force, procrastination, overthinking, negative self-talk, overwhelm, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, new social situations, relationships, substance use/abuse, recognition of developmental trauma, career and life choice indecision, self-doubt, and the formation of identity as a young adult. Please call, use the contact tab, or request an initial consultation through the appointment link above to see if we are a match. Please note that telehealth may not be clinically appropriate in all circumstances or for all clients. ---------------------------------------------------------- “In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?” ― Carl R. Rogers ---------------------------------------------------------- *At this time, Red Bead Counseling, is able to accept the following insurances: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Oxford, Oscar, United, Aetna, Point32 Healthcare, and Cigna through Headway. *In addition, monthly insurance statements ("superbills") can be provided, which can be submitted to some plans for reimbursement for out-of-network services. Please check with your health insurance provider. *Per the "No Surprises Act" of 2022, you have the right to a "Good Faith Estimate" for any out-of-network services, explaining how much your health care will cost. This estimate is provided as part of the intake paperwork. All therapy is individualized and can be scheduled/cancelled/terminated at any point by the client. For more information, see www.cms.gov/nosurprises (link in footer) or 1800-985-3059. *If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to your local emergency room. Other emergency resources include the the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (at 988), which provides free confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The Crisis Text Line (Text HOME to 741741) provides free, 24/7, text-based mental health support and crisis intervention.
