Introduction

Melissa is a licensed professional counselor dedicated to supporting older adolescents and adults facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation, and personality disorders. She holds a special interest in providing compassionate care to members of the LGBTQIA+ community dealing with issues surrounding gender identity and sexuality. As a certified WPATH provider, Melissa undergoes extensive training in her work with transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals. In her practice, Melissa seamlessly integrates various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Treatments. Her goal is to empower individuals, fostering an environment where they can heal, grow, and flourish. Melissa also finds great fulfillment in working with families and parents, assisting in strengthening relationships, enhancing communication, and cultivating a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. During her free time, Melissa enjoys immersing herself in the vibrant culture of Atlanta, exploring new places, relishing the outdoors, savoring diverse culinary experiences, and ensuring every furry friend she encounters receives a warm greeting.
