I am a born and raised northwest-Iowan and have a solid understanding of the rural culture we live in, and it’s a beautiful one! I also know that as Midwesterners, it is hard for us to ask for help, so welcome. I began my helping profession in the substance use field and decided to go on to become a licensed mental health counselor several years ago. I majored in Criminal Justice for my undergrad at The University of Northwestern and received my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I hold an advanced certificate in perinatal mental health (PMH-C). I believe in order to raise strong and healthy children, we must seek to be well ourselves. Therefore, it is a privilege for me to help young mothers and parents be healthy mentally. I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and Postpartum Support International (PSI). I also volunteer with PSI in facilitating the Fertility Challenges online support group. My counseling approach is first and foremost client-centered, followed by an integration of several modalities. As I listen to your life story and goals, I help to create a treatment plan that suits your needs and desires. I am basic trained in EMDR and also enjoy using internal family systems (IFS), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT) within my counseling practice. Issues I am equipped to work with are: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, spiritual issues and others. Outside of the counseling hour, I take great joy in being with my family, spending time outside running or biking. I am also an active member in my local church body.
