Merry Thoe

I am a  Licensed Clinical Social Work Therapist  with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and life coach certifications . My  clinical focus is on  reducing stress, anxiety  and depression, coping with life transitions (such as parenting, infidelity, retirement, aging parents) supporting recovery from addictions, healing trauma,  improving self-worth and  building self-esteem.  My clients are women and men, including young adults seeking  professional support.  With every client, my  intent is to provide a nonjudgmental space where one feels safe to process and feel heard. I am passionate about working collaboratively with clients and will tap into   their inner strengths for coping. Methods  of treatment I  use in my practice   include  Cognitive Behavior Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT), EMDR and Motivational Interviewing. ​ In 1978 I graduated with B.S.  from Purdue University  and Indiana University  in  2004 with Masters in Social Work (MSW). Most of my clinical work has been  in an inpatient and outpatient  addictions treatment hospital working  with adults, adolescents and families  who need all levels of care. It is the hospital setting where I  realized the power of recovery and healing when support and hope were present.  I am a  licensed as a Licensed Social Worker(LSW)  and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)  through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.  LSW license number is 33008542A LCSW license number is 34009003A ​ In my free time, I enjoy biking/ walking in nature,  being with husband of 40 years,  our four  adult children and their families.
