Introduction

Adolescence and young adulthood is a difficult time of transformation and change for both young people and their families. The process of identity formation and separation/individuation from the family system can sometimes involve conflict and relational strain for all members of the family. Acting out behaviors, both externally (aggression, disrespect, substance use) and internally (withdrawal, isolation, self harm) can be unhealthy ways of expressing that individuality. Increased rigidity, control and consequence sometimes makes things worse. It's a complicated time with complicated solutions that are different for everyone. I work to empower young people to develop the skills needed for honest, critical self evaluation and decision making. To internalize a sense of agency over their lives. I find that, with support, most are able to acknowledge what's not working, identify a healthier path, and slowly make the changes needed to improve over time. If you're reading this, you likely have a sense that something needs to change. I believe in your ability to make those changes and I will do my best to help you along your journey
