Hello and Blessings! I am committed to providing a safe, compassionate, non-shaming, and nonjudgmental environment where you can discuss and navigate the complexities of life. With 20+ years of military service, I specialize in working with diverse clients, from adolescents to senior citizens, including veterans and their families. My areas of expertise include addressing Marital and Premarital relationship concerns, family/parental/children distress, LGBTQIA+ issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, emotional dysregulation, grief, and substance use concerns. Sharing personal experiences is essential to the therapeutic process, which leads to positive emotional change. I use an Emotionally Focused Therapeutic approach to develop strategies that enhance the awareness, acceptance, regulation, and transformation of emotions, thereby creating new, meaningful experiences in your life. We (yes, me included) often avoid therapy due to a combination of stigmas associated with mental health, such as fear of judgment, lack of understanding, concerns about cost, difficulty finding a suitable therapist, believing your concerns aren't serious enough, or maybe your reluctant to admit you desire help facing personal challenges due shame or embarrassment. I can relate to the reluctant feelings and negative stereotypes associated with therapy. I've discovered that therapy is a common practice for managing mental health, emotions, and relationship problems. It's not just for "extreme" cases. Hesitation with attending therapy is common when you don't trust someone new with your problems. The truth is, we don't care how much a person may know until we know how much they care. Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and who aligns with your needs is essential. Building a trusted professional relationship is foundational. A suitable therapist should be trustworthy, reliable, non-shaming, and nonjudgmental. I would be honored to take this journey with you. Thank you for considering me.
